Privacy policy

• While all effort is taken to protect it, your personal and user data is not guaranteed to be safe on this site. The majority of content is stored as plain text in a database and in unencrypted formats on the server's disk.
  In addition, at any time your data may be accessed by an unauthorised third party, the site's host, third party instances that this site federates with and/or the site's administrator(s).
• There is no guarantee of security while using this site and it may be compromised at any time without notice so please use your own measures to protect yourself.
• You should not provide any data to identify yourself personally on this site. In the case that you do, this site holds no responsibility for any harm that comes to you.
  In essence, you should not provide anything you don't want anyone else to see.
• There is no internal or known external tracking or profiling services on this site.
• Although it is possible to delete your user account at any time through the user settings page, please be aware that this does not always delete any of your posts from other instances.
  You should consider anything posted on this site as permanent and irremovable.
• This site uses cookies to keep you logged in, you may refuse these if you wish but you will then be required to log in each time you visit.
• Please be aware that Pleroma chat and direct messages are not secure or encrypted, the administrator can and may read them at any time. (but won't unless required to do so by a report)
  In addition, some sites may publish your private posts as public, if you happen find any of these sites then please alert me.
• Images that are posted by users on other instances are cached and served from the youjo.love servers, unlike other instances which do not enable mediaproxy this prevents your IP being sent to other instances when you view an image.
• The following data points about you are collected to allow for operation of the site:
  1. IP address.
  2. Browser User Agent.
  3. Login times and dates.
  • These are discarded hourly or not saved to disk at all and kept solely in memory.
  • If you are concerned about your IP address being collected please connect to the site through tor.

Our Ethos

We will make the best attempt possible to preserve user privacy and reduce the amount of data collected on you where possible, your personal data has no monetary value to us (the administrators) and the less unnecessary articles of it we keep, the better.

So far these are the actions that have been taken:

• We make the best attempt to cut down on logging on our services, at this time, all "access" logging on the webservers for all our services is disabled and error logging is set to critical only, this means your IP is only shown if the webserver encounters a critical error for a client.
  • An exception is made for the booru, we will work on a solution to stop collecting user IPs on this.
• Fediverse Blockbots (announces you have blocked someone to that person) will be intentionally broken when possible and unable to announce youjo.love users to prevent harassment.
• When server hardware is deemed no longer needed, the best attempt will be made to permanently wipe that user data (such as overwriting the disk many times) so that it cannot be accessed by a third party.
• Emails are intentionally optional on any services we host, and we recommend not using them where possible as they are inherantly an insecure standard.
• We will notify you if we are aware of any data breaches. However we will do our best to avoid these being possible.
