OPsec guide
Initial points to get across
- It should not be possible to link your identities.
- You should never show the same things on two different profiles if you don't want them to be linked.
- Ideally do not show any real world pictures that can be linked to you.
- Don't say the same things between profiles.
- Don't talk much about the same interests, or if you do, you should limit yourself to talking about interests that are common.
- Remember, that even if you are found out, the less information that can be linked between your profiles, the more likely you will be able to deny your relation.
- Be careful with posting files.
- Photos, music, videos, PDFs and more can contain EXIF data or similar, this can be used to link to you.
- In the worst case, photos can contain geolocation data which is usually a highly accurate geographic location of where the photo was taken. Some high end digital cameras also allow you to embed your real name into the photos.
- Photos, music, videos, PDFs and more can contain EXIF data or similar, this can be used to link to you.
- Ideally you should not have more than one internet presence.
- Or if you do, your secondary internet presence should not be linkable to you as a person and should use psuedonames.
- Do not host sites if you don't know what you are doing.
- Hosting a MAP site and your personal site using the same server (IP), for example, is a fast track way to being caught.
- Don't pay for site hosting using tracable methods.
What to do if you are caught
- Never admit to anything.
- Over defensiveness and overexplaination is percieved as guilt.
